Every Most Mondays, I send out a #booksaroundtheroom via Twitter, so my students can share what they’re reading with the world. “It’s Monday! What are you Reading?” is a meme co-hosted by Jen and Kellee at Teach Mentor Texts. Just like #booksaroundtheroom, it is a way to share books you’ve been reading, reviewing, and loving during the last week. I read a lot, both on my own and with my two kids, Corbchops (1770 days) and The Iza (1015 days). I’m excited to hear what you’ve been reading.
My goal when I started this blog was to write two posts a week. One IMWAYR, one other. Maybe a third, if I really get rolling. But lately, it’s been a situation where I can choose reading or choose blogging. So I choose reading! Especially on these weeks when things are really busy and the reading time is at a premium.
Here’s what I’ve enjoyed during the last week:
Middle Grade:
I finished one middle grade novel last week. That’s all.
- Smells Like Dog, by Suzanne Selfors. This is our Guys Read book for April, this time nominated and voted on by the guys. I’m glad they picked it–it was super fun!
Graphic Novels:
I finished one graphic novel last week. I love graphic novels!
- Lunch Lady and the Picture Day Peril, by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. I don’t know why it took me so long to read this one. Loved the Mr. Schu cameo.
Picture Books:
I read 12 picture books last week. My favorite three were:
- 11 Experiments that Failed, by Jenny Offill and Nancy Carpenter. We read this in class as we started out our Scientific Method unit.
- Doug Unplugged, by Dan Yaccarino. I will read this to my class during Screen Free Week.
- The Dirty Cowboy, by Amy Timberlake and Adam Rex. I love Adam Rex because he is good at everything. Amy’s story was good, too.
Reviewed:
On the TMCE Guys Read blog, I reviewed Hide and Seek, by Kate Messner.
AND
Right now When I finish this blog post, I’m reading:
Energize Research Reading and Writing, by Christopher Lehman, which I will finish this week.
SO
What are you reading?
