It’s Monday, [June 3]! What are you reading?

Every Most Mondays, I send out a #booksaroundtheroom via Twitter, so my students can share what they’re reading with the world. “It’s Monday! What are you Reading?” is a meme co-hosted by Jen and Kellee at Teach Mentor Texts. Just like #booksaroundtheroom, it is a way to share books you’ve been reading, reviewing, and loving during the last week. I read a lot, both on my own and with my two kids, Corbchops (1812 days) and The Iza (1056 days). I’m excited to hear what you’ve been reading.

Mon Reading Button PB to YA

Camping again last week. But this time, instead of rain, it was pleasant. And instead of other friends and kids, it was grandparents. And you know what grandparents means: More reading time.

Here’s what I’ve enjoyed during the last week:

Middle Grade:

I finished three middle grade novels and one informational book last week.

Graphic Novels:

I finished two graphic novels last week. I love graphic novels!

  • Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes, by Neil Gaiman. I’ve never read Sandman. Reading so many graphic novels has rekindled my comic love. This is for grown-ups.
  • The Reason for Dragons, by Chris Northrop. This YA graphic novel was mostly enjoyable and often funny .

Picture Books:

Somehow I only read 1 new picture book last week. Actually, it was because the library was closed on Monday, when I usually get books. Which means there are 17 books waiting for me today!

  • Dragon, by Jody Bergsma. My son loves dragons. This is by a local author/artist. It was OK.

Professional Books:

I finished 1 professional book this week.

  • Book Love, by Penny Kittle. Even though this books is targeted for high school English teachers, I loved it and found it very relevant. I’ve been telling everyone about it, teachers or not.

Reviewed:

On the TMCE Guys Read blog, I didn’t review anything last week. Which means I failed my three-reviews-per-month goal, for the first time since making it. I will try to make up for it this summer…

AND

Right now When I finish this blog post, I’m reading:

White Fur Flying, by Patricia MacLachlan

SO
